Her Shoes

Stacey had been hunting for a pair of shoes for almost two years.  We went everywhere! And found nothing! Canada doesn't bring much in when it comes to fashion and sure we have Bloor Street and Holt's, but everything was sort of blah.  And any Louboutins we saw were either plain and looked like regular work shoes or cliche sparkly "wedding" shoes.

It's two weeks before the wedding and Stacey thought she was just gonna have to settle and get a boring plain shoe.  I had a day off and was running around trying to find my girl a pair of heels that'll make her feel special on her big day.  I went to this little boutique in Yorkville called WHITE, where any girl who's getting married needs to stop by.  Tons of vintage and custom accessories, couture dresses and designer shoes.  Found a pair of white Oscar de la Renta pumps that Stacey might like.  Then I went to Louis Vuitton, and I saw a pair of red patent sandals that I thought were so sexy and put the last pair they had in Stacey's size on hold too.  Trust me, that day, I popped into every single store in the city that carried shoes.  I was convinced she was gonna get the LV's - they were my favourite!  I had done such a good job!

Next day, we go together and she tries everything on.  Not convinced.  She thought the Oscars were underwhelming and the LVs were a bit snug and not comfortable enough to punish through for a whole day.

Disappointed, we continue walking along Bloor.  I told her I remember seeing a pair of turquoise pumps at Prada.  "Wanna check them out?" We go in and she falls in love!  I hadn't thought to put them on hold - I have no idea why cause they looked amazing on her.  Simple, classic, but still bold and made a statement.  What she loved was the sole!  Forget red bottoms, Louboutin! These were completely silk all underneath and a Prada logo in gold.

Here comes the funny story...all happy and content that we found her shoes...we grab some lunch at a vendor and I suggest we eat outside at the patio tables by the little park.  We finally find a free table, and wait...where are the shoes!!!!????  Ah!  I left them on the food counter!  Mind you - this isn't a restaurant we popped into - this was BBQ Express, which has awesome food, but is just a counter and a door open to the street.  Anyone could have taken the Prada bag!  I drop my food and book it back to see where I left them.  I see a little Asian lady, the owner, coming towards me yelling, "Your Prada!  Your Prada!"  Can you believe she came over and returned them!  I was so lucky cause Stacey looked like she was gonna KILL ME!!!  We thanked the lady so much and Stacey picked up all our food, and said, "We're eating in the car!  No more chances!"
